Rainbow Birthday Party

Jadyn had her first friend birthday party yesterday. She chose a rainbow theme for her party and she has been excited for weeks. We invited 7 of her friends. So, adding in her and Maya made for 9 little girls! It was a fun, but busy party!

Here is the birthday girl (too excited to look at the camera):

She insisted on wearing her rainbow dress from the summer so I made her put long sleeves and tights on too!

We started with having the guests play pin the pot of gold under the rainbow as everyone was arriving.

Next the girls went on a rainbow treasure hunt where they ran around the house looking for clues in each color of the rainbow. After finding a new clue, they had to perform an activity (jump up and down 10 times, sing Happy Birthday to Jadyn, etc) before reading the next clue. At the end, they found the pot of gold with a necklace for each of them to take home.

Next we had the girls make their rainbow shaped pizzas.


The girls got thirsty with all the work I made them do so far so they each grabbed a rainbow cup for a drink break! Here is Grandma Julie helping with Bennett. We are glad she was able to come for the party.


While the pizzas were cooking, Nathan led the girls in rainbow musical chairs played to the primary hymn: "I like to look for rainbows". You can also see Jadyn's work on the goody bags. She colored rainbows on each one and wrote each girls name.


Next we ate our rainbow pizzas. We also had veggies and a rainbow fruit tray:


Next we had the girls smack at the pinata. Nathan was worried about getting swung at. The string broke before the pinata so I made him hold the pinata for the girls to whack. Luckily they had good aim! The pinata was filled with rainbow candy: skittles, starburst, and laffy taffy.


Next Jadyn opened her gifts. The guests were so excited that everyone was crowded around Jadyn. So fun to see 8 little girls surrounding Jadyn...she had a little fan club!


We ended the party with singing Happy Birthday to Jadyn and eating rainbow cupcakes. The cupcakes were a hit. I had to limit each girl to 2 cupcakes or they would have just keep eating them. I forgot to take a picture of the cupcakes yesterday, but here is a shot of the two leftover cupcakes today with a Cool Whip cloud on top. The cupcakes were actually fun to make (although rather time consuming to dye and make each of the layers smooth).


It was a fun party. Happy 5th Birthday Jadyn. We partied rainbow style all the way!
