A Saturday with Dad

We had the luxury of actually spending time with Dad today.  He only had to work a few hours.  We got to tour a new building for Whirlpool (where the girls got their faces painted, saw a magician, and sampled some gelato...yum!).  Then later after the Bubster napped, we went out to dinner.  It was a fun day.

Jadyn chose to have a fairy painted.  She thought it was awesome and now wants to buy face paint and paint them herself.  Um, I don't think so honey :)

Maya saw a girl in front of us in line get a Hello Kitty with a rainbow so she said she wanted that.  However, when the makeup artist pulled out the white paint to draw the kitty Maya freaked out so she end up with a rainbow with some extra "pink" (I guess the pink paint was not as scary) ornamentation.

They both looked super cute and were disappointed to wash it off tonight.  Jadyn wondered why I would not allow her to keep it on for church tomorrow :)

All boy: Dandelion killer!

The girls showed Bennett how neat it is to blow dandelions and watch them float away.  I guess he thought that was too delicate.  Today he starts whacking at them with his bubble wand.  He whacked away for a good 20 minutes.  Since it is just an empty lot next to us (full of dandelions), he did not make much headway in clearing them out!

Bennett's speech: What a talker!

Bennett has come a long way in the last few months with his speech.  It is so wonderful to hear what this sweet little boy has to tell us.  Although, lately his favorite words are "No, Mine, Stuck (when something is stuck/he can't work it...which means he wants me to come right that instant), Go".

He has started to put two and three word phrases together.  It is so cute because you can tell that he really has to think about how to say each word.  As you will see in the following video clip, he pauses between saying "Hi" and "Mommy".  Melts my heart because it is so sweet.

Cooking in the Kitchen

Bennett absolutely loves to help me cook.  Anytime I start to prepare anything, he pulls a chair over to the island to "help".  I really enjoy having him help me even though it definitely takes longer and requires more clean-up.  He gets so excited and claps for himself after he dumps the ingredients in.    Maya loves to help me cook almost as much as Bennett does.  Jadyn is over helping and usually says, "Mom, is it okay if I skip it this time, I am busy coloring".

Tonight he and Maya helped me make pork ribs and biscuits.  I decided to put on aprons.  They looked so cute (thanks Aunt Melissa) and Bennett could even pull off the girly apron!

Happy Easter

We had a wonderful Easter full of fun and reflection on the sacrifice of our Savior, Jesus Christ.  We went to an egg hunt at Jadyn's school, had a wonderful service at church, dyed easter eggs, had a wonderful dinner and egg hunt with our friends, and ended with a FHE message about the resurrection.  It was a great weekend.

Maya was overwhelmed when we showed up to the Egg Hunt at Jadyn's school.  Crowds often intimidate her.  Jadyn told her, "Don't worry Maya, I will show you what to do".  Jadyn is always an excellent big sister.

The kids examining their candy

Bennett likes jelly beans.  What a surprise!

The kids checking out the Easter baskets.  As Jadyn informed us, the Easter Bunny used some of the same locations (albeit a different house :) as before.  Guess Mr. & Mrs. Bunny needs to get more creative!

Jadyn showing Maya how to work the bunny pencils

Bubby all spiffed up for church

Jadyn: "Mom, it is freezing out here.  Do we have to take pictures?"

Everyone loving on the Bubster

Maya had fun when she spotted an egg
Bubby is so proud that he found one!

Dying the Easter eggs
Bubby liked plopping his eggs in the dye.  Messy ordeal :)

Maya was very curious and did not want to leave the eggs in very long

Hoping these two marry.  The are so cute together :)
