Chicago Trip and Jadyn's Prayer

We had the chance to go to Chicago for a couple of days with my Mom, Sarah, Jeremy & Jessi. We were able to swim, eat at the Cheesecake Factory, go to the temple, and visit Shedd Aquarium. We had a great time!

Maya chillin at the aquarium:

Jadyn absolutely loved the aquarium. It was the perfect place to take her.

Lately, Nathan and I love listening to her nightly prayers. She is so cute in what she thinks to thank Heavenly Father for. She often thanks Him for the things that she enjoyed most during her day. This was her prayer tonight:

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for the pretty fishes.
Thank you for all the turtles.
Thank you for the really big fishes.
Thank you for the little baby fishes.
Thank you for the fishes we could walk over.
Thank you for...Daddy, what was the name of the fish on the movie...oh yeah, Nemo fish.
Thank you for...Daddy, what was the name of that big sea turtle?...oh yeah, Nickel. Oh, I really like the turtle.
Thank you for letting me sit on the big turtle.
Thank you for the circle doors....so we could go in and out because it was fun.
Thank you that the birdies could get in so they didn't get cold.

In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Toe Jam Anyone?

Well, lately Maya thinks it is fun to suck on her toes. She laughs at us when we tell her that is yucky. As soon as I take her socks off to change her into her pajamas, the toes go into her mouth. While it is cute now, I am hoping she lets go of this little pastime soon. Although it is semi-acceptable for children to suck their thumbs...I can only imagine the look of the other kids/teacher if she pulls out her toes during school!

Also, yesterday Maya's first tooth popped through the skin on the bottom. I probably would not have even known she was getting a tooth except for she bit down while nursing a couple of days ago. So, I decided to take a look in her mouth and sure enough she had a tooth about to come in. This kid is an angel...does not even complain when teeth are breaking through her gums. She was a little more tired today than usual, but otherwise her happy little self. I am going to miss her gummy little smile a little though :(

Okay, I'll play!

My friend Kasey tagged me to play in this game. You post the 6th picture in your My Pictures folder on your computer and then tag six others to do the same. Here is mine:

This picture was taken August 1, 2008. It is fun to look back and see how much Jadyn loved Maya from the beginning.

I tag:

Have fun!

St. Patty's Day Cuties

So, I know St. Patty's Day for most people is just about getting hammered on green beer. But for us, it is another excuse to dress the girls up cute. Now, it was a bit of a stretch since we don't really own any green clothing for them. You can't tell in the pictures, but Maya's shirt and headband are lime green. For Jadyn, the best I could do was a green bead necklace and green hairclips. Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Ponytails and Piggytails Here We Come

On Sunday, I wanted to see if Maya had enough hair for a pigtail yet. I am happy to report that she does...although it has to be straight up! Maya hated me putting the ponytail in though. I guess she does not like the pulling sensation. Sorry kid, Mom loves girly hair accessories so you better just adapt quickly!

Not Quite a Prima Ballerina

Jadyn's last dance class was this past Friday. She enjoyed her class so much. I think she is definitely more suited to dance than sports. She is just not a rough and tumble sort of gal! It was so cute to see her try in her dance class.

Here is Jadyn at the ballet bar:

Watching her teacher demonstrate a somersault:

Jadyn decided that laying on the mat was a better idea. She had a cold that morning and was not feeling well.

Almost there Mom!

Maya is now 7 1/2 months old. She is finally almost able to sit up by herself. She still is not rolling from her back to her tummy (she will immediately roll to her back if I place her on her tummy though!). She might even crawl later than Jadyn did. Jadyn started crawling at 11 months and did not walk until 15 months!

This little girl is just so content that she sees no reason to move I guess. I am not really pushing her or stressing about it like I did with Jadyn. Obviously, children do things in their own time and Jadyn is definitely on track now! I am enjoying just having Maya just be Maya. She is still such a sweet little girl.

Maya is now "all-chubbs". She has some major thunder thighs! I just put her in this 9 month outfit. While the length of the pants are plenty long (I rolled the waist), it was difficult to get them up and over the thighs!

Maya loves to give us kisses and will usually give them upon request. Who wouldn't want slobbery kisses from this little sweetie? Nathan, Jadyn, and I all love her kisses.
